Project: Cozy Classic Bathroom Remodel in Wakefield, MA (AKA #ProjectCozyClassicBath)
The name speaks for itself on this project, as we packed so much luxury and functionality into this cozy and classic bathroom! Before the renovation, this second floor bathroom only contained an original clawfoot tub and lacked on storage. Our clients wanted to add a walk-in shower, maximize storage and also give the tub a new lease on life by reglazing it.
During the design phase we emphasized maintaining the spirit of the 1920s home, by developing a classic and timeless aesthetic and a plan to reuse existing materials where possible. To gain space to add a shower, we bumped out the entire bathroom into the upstairs hallway and landing area. By reusing the original stained door, moldings and casing, you would never know the bathroom’s footprint was not original to the home.
We maximized functionality and luxury in the new layout, including a generous tall linen cabinet (with an electrical outlet inside for charging toothbrushes and razors out of sight!), a vintage-inspired sconce and lighted mirror (wonderful for applying makeup!), and a wall-mounted towel radiator (ah, the luxury of a heated towel!). The small but mighty shower was outfitted in classic white subway tile, with timeless shower fixtures and frameless shower glass panels that allow natural light to pour through the space.
With a classic black and white color palette, remixed with charcoal gray and soft blue, the new bathroom is a serene and highly-functional everyday getaway for our wonderful clients. We were so pleased to work with them on this project and hope they enjoy their new space for years to come!

We truly enjoyed working with these clients on their classic and timeless new bathroom, and we appreciate their kind words: “Dear Jenni, Marc and the team at McGuire + Co., Just a quick note of thanks to let you know how pleased we are with the remodeled bathroom! After using it for a few weeks now – it is like it always existed that way, but with much better functionality (shower, storage, outlets!) than before. And, of course, it is so pretty! Please extend our thanks to your team and team of sub-contractors for their high quality of work and craftmanship.”
