Project: Bathroom remodel in Melrose, MA, with expanded space for new shower
Our client came to us with a wish list for her downstairs bathroom. At the top of the list was to add a shower, so she wouldn’t have to walk upstairs to get ready in the morning. She wanted a fresh new look with plenty of storage, and the ability to have a clutter-free counter top. We accomplished this by doing a full gut, and stealing some space from an adjoining room to add the new walk-in shower. The finished space is fresh, clean and airy, and beautifully functional.
The nuanced gray and white color palette carries throughout the space, and the cool gray cabinetry is complemented by ash gray cabinet hardware for a subtle mixed metals effect.
The extended vanity features a pull-out organizing cabinet for the perfect place to store the hair dryer and everyday products.
The lighted mirror gives a beautiful glow, and keeps away shadows while applying makeup.
A wall cabinet above the toilet provides plenty of additional storage.
We used a 3×12 glossy shower tile to provide beautiful movement for a calming look that’s a bit more interesting than classic white subway tile. The shower niche is trimmed in Carrara marble and accented with the mosaic used on the shower floor.
The Carrara marble jambs not only frame the shower, but also allow a smooth solid surface to attach the beautiful glass shower door.
Gleaming chrome faucet and shower fixtures bounce light around the room.
The color-complementing light gray porcelain floor keeps the whole space feeling light and airy.
