New Showroom Island – More Space, More Storage, More Details!

After a few years, many team meetings and countless design presentations, we decided it was time to upgrade the main presentation island in our showroom. With ample room to work with, we could afford to increase the size of the island to maximize seating for our team and clients. We also wanted to design the island in a way to demonstrate cabinetry and carpentry details that we typically incorporate into our projects. After all, nothing beats a real-life example as a way to visualize and understand abstract cabinetry details. Because there can be a lot of them!

We are so happy with the new workspace and love showing it off to every new client and visitor to our showroom. Welcome to McGuire + Co. Kitchen & Bath!

McGuire + Co. Kitchen & Bath Showroom in Wakefield MA - Before and After
A very fun Before & After! We grounded the new island with a bold color, a great representation of the “McGuire blue”, using a Quarter Sawn White Oak wood species and a multi-step stain and glaze process. We also invested in new beautiful – and quite comfortable! – counter height stools.

With seating for six, our team has plenty of room to gather for internal meetings, and our clients can engage in a design meeting comfortably. The nearly 10-foot quartz countertop provides ample room for our designers to lay out cabinetry samples and other materials for design presentations.

Elegant in the front and streamlined in the back! We used a combination of legs on the island to show a more formal style and a simpler, square option.

Storage galore! We tucked a bank of shallow base cabinets under the seating side of the island, accessible from underneath the countertop overhang. These additional cabinets provide great storage for things we don’t need to access every day, like showroom supplies.

On the workstation side of the island, we chose to finish the cabinets in a moody gray paint (on Maple wood species), which complements the stained Quarter Sawn Oak finish on the rest of the island, and creates an interesting two-tone effect. The shallow drawers feature a “slab” style drawer front, while the deeper drawers and doors maintain the profile of the cabinet style.

On both ends of the island, we installed wainscot panels to conceal where the cabinets on either side meet back-to-back to create a beautiful detail. On one side we installed a panel with a single wainscot, while the other side features a double wainscot panel. Furniture base molding wraps the entire island for a beautiful built-in and furniture-like look.

In the island drawers, we specified custom utensil divider inserts that could accommodate our cabinetry finish samples. In the middle cabinet, we included rollout shelves for easy access to other showroom supplies.
