Project: Design-build project in Stoneham MA, including a kitchen, mudroom, and two bathrooms. (#ProjectPurgeThePeach)
Project Purge The Peach is a design-build remodeling project in Stoneham, and this is a multi-space makeover consisting of the kitchen, mudroom, first floor hallway, first floor bathroom, and second floor bathroom. From the start, our homeowners voiced that they were not keen on the existing floor tile in the mudroom and in the kitchen. The tile was a 12”x12” tile, textured, peach in color, yet not in an appealing way, so we knew this had to go, and this resulted in our project name Project Purge The Peach!
We converted the existing sunroom to a mudroom full of function for our homeowners, but most important, for their dog Tony, as the mudroom is his domain. The tranquil mudroom aesthetic transitions into the kitchen effortlessly with a transitional and everlasting palette our homeowners can appreciate for years to come. We opened the kitchen to the dining area, relocated appliances, elaborated on our perimeter, and implemented a central island which is efficient for cooking preparation, entertaining, dining, and everyday enjoyment. As we travel down the hall, we are led to the striking first floor bathroom where we blend the transitional look with industrial elements, and high contrast finishes. Also, part of this remodel is the renovation of the second floor bathroom, a space that is simply serene.
We opened the kitchen space to the dining space, elaborated on the perimeter layout relocating the refrigerator and the range, which resulted in an effective “U” shape layout, with a central island. This kitchen features a frameless cabinetry construction, with a soft version of a shaker cabinetry style, the perimeter was ordered in a very light gray painted finish, while the island contrasts in a neutral green gray painted finish. We purged the existing peach floor tile and installed a floor tile that mimics a wood grain. The aesthetic is easy on the eyes and long lasting.
Per opening the kitchen space to the dining space, we did work withing an existing chase at the perimeter of the kitchen layout. This is an example of working within an existing condition, yet still being successful at solving problems, achieving purpose, and accomplishing a function.
The Kitchen displays a Thermodor appliance suite consisting of a french door refrigerator, seamless paneled dishwasher, striking range, vent hood, and microwave drawer. From refrigeration, to cooking and cleaning, this kitchen is covered!
Showcased in this space is the Viatera Adagio Gold quartz material for the countertops at our perimeter, at our island countertop, along with the full height backsplash up to the bottom of the wall cabinetry, then impactfully to the ceiling at the range and vent hood. This quartz has subtle and elegant veining, full of beauty.
Shown in the kitchen are cohesive metal finishes. We have the stainless finish with our collection of appliances, the stainless finish at our workstation sink, then our brushed nickel seen at the faucet, the cabinetry hardware, and with the decorative lighting.
This kitchen does not lack in storage! Some accessory solutions included are drawer storage, roll out tray storage, cutlery organization, prep utensil organization, knife storage, cook utensil organization, spice storage, vertical storage, and more!
We converted the sunroom into this mudroom which is adjacent to the kitchen space. We created a design with open storage, closed storage, hanging storage, and a bench for our homeowners, but also for their dog, as this space is his domain. We took the accent of the kitchen’s neutral green gray island painted finish to the mudroom cabinetry to continue to carry a unified movement through the first floor.
That neutral green gray cabinetry painted finish! Shout out – Sherwin Williams Homburg Gray! All finish elements contrast from each other allowing each component to shine. The hue of the cabinetry painted finish gleams at the light wall paint color, beams at the wood bench top, and stunningly sits on top of the deep textured floor tile. This space does not lack storage – open storage at the floating shelf, open storage at the left return of the bench, hanging storage at the decorative hooks, closed storage at the wall cabinet coming down to the bench top, and closed storage at the bench drawers. We purged the peach existing floor tile and installed a large format 12”x24” deep charcoal floor tile.
Floating shelves for open storage, decorative hooks for hanging storage, and closed storage above and below our bench top.
